Homeschooling in 1981

Here is an old Donahue interview with John Holt:

As I watched the video, I was struck by the following thoughts:

  1. The objections to homeschooling in 1981 were much the same as the objections to homeschooling today
  2. People dressed much more modestly and formally in public 30-odd years ago than they do today
  3. People were much more polite, even when strongly disagreeing, 30+ years ago than they are today
  4. The meme of Christians as “bigots,” etc. was being played even back in 1981

In 1981, my country still considered itself to be Christian.  Looking at this video, I can’t say that the changes in Canadian society over the past 30+ years have all been positive.
