Radical Homeschooling and Deuteronomy 6

Here is an interesting discussion from The Puritan Board on the radical homeschooling interpretation of Deuteronomy 6:6-9.  The radical view is that homeschooling is the ONLY acceptable means of educating children.  The historic Reformed view is that there is no one form of schooling mandated by Deuteronomy, although parents are responsible for what their children are taught and should therefore choose their children’s education carefully.

I hold the latter view, although in my situation homeschooling IS the only acceptable means for my children to be educated.  Consider the situation historically:  if homeschooling is the ONLY acceptable means of educating children in all places and times, then many of the pioneers who came to America would have been in sin for sending their children to school while they worked hard to stay alive and build a society.  I am not inclined to adopt that view.
